Wow, the weather today was amazing! Finally, summer has graced us with its presence. Today, the Music and Love group had our regular performance at Brightview Grosvenor. Before our show, we took group pictures for our upcoming concert at NIH in June. We all dressed up in formal clothes and held our instruments while taking pictures. It was so much fun! As we got into the lobby, the audience was already assembled, eagerly waiting for the performance to begin. Once the performance started, the audience showed great enthusiasm and appreciation by applauding each performer. As the show went on, more and more people joined in, heading towards the lobby and upstairs areas to get the most out of the experience. The event featured two groups from MCYO, the Future Stars group String Quintet and the Prep Strings group String Quartet, who gave breathtaking performances. Additionally, two new musicians did a great job for the groups. My favorite part was when Eileen and Eric played a beautiful piano and cello duet called 'Salut d'Amour'. It was incredibly touching and something I won't forget anytime soon. It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved. (Reported by Allie Rui)

Wow, our first composition lesson was such an exciting and informative experience! We were so lucky to have three talented 8th graders as our composition teachers. Even though it was a day off from school, we had a group of 12 young musicians who were eager to learn how to compose music online. Our teacher, Benjamin, kicked off the lesson by introducing us to Mario Paint Composer, an awesome online software that allowed us to create music in a super user-friendly way. It was so cool to learn how to use the software and understand the basics of composing music. Teacher Ryan was absolutely fantastic and answered all our questions in such a friendly and helpful manner. At the end of the lesson, we created a song called 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. It was such an incredible experience to witness the power of music composition firsthand and work together to create something truly special. (Reported by Allie Rui)
Even though it’s a foggy and gloomy day (boo hoo), our thirteen performers made it feel like a great sunny summer day! The pianists played some happy and cheerful piano pieces such as the fantastic Fantasy Theme played by Victoria, transported everyone into a lush fantasy world with her fingers going up and down as if to draw out a castle wall. David conducted a very cheerful puppet show during his performance of The Puppet Show Op.5. The strings trio is back and finished it all with two stunning pieces carefully chosen to end this off strong. They did so well in fact that I think they should actually become a tiny orchestra!!! Lexi Yang did awesome on her first performance with us on the oboe, the notes filled every corner of the room loudly and clearly. Everyone did fantastic today and played really well. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed on Isabella (yes, that’s her real name) the cat will come back and be under our chairs for us to pet. Catch ya’ll next time!! (Reported by Aric Deng).
It's such a beautiful day today, with the sun shining and a lovely breeze in the air. It's the perfect weather to enjoy everything that summer has to offer. The Music and Love group went to perform at the Raphael House, as we do regularly. When we arrived at the lobby, the audience was already seated, waiting for us. We were joined by a new friend named Grace, playing Bach Invention No. 9. Her performance was beautiful, and the audience couldn't help but applaud the moment she finished playing. The two professional pianists, Eileen and Samuel, dazzled the audience with their stunning performances. Eileen's fingers danced gracefully across the keys as she played a classical piece, filling the room with its haunting melody. Samuel, on the other hand, brought the house down with his energy, leaving everyone tapping their feet to the rhythm. Their exceptional skill and talent were evident in every note they played. It was truly a memorable experience that left everyone feeling inspired. (Reported by Allie Rui)
Many new musicians joined us today at Byron House. The staff and residents cheerfully greeted us. Sakura and Momo Sasaki, and Victoria Wang were welcomed to Music and Love by a loving group! As we played, more and more seniors came to watch us. They all came to support and listen to us play! One of the highlights of our event was when Sakura played a very lyrical Polonaise in G minor on the piano. After the piece, it was enthusiastically applauded by everyone. We left feeling proud to share our music with the residents. (Reported by Emma Hou)
