Concert at Asbury Methodist Village

On a sunny day, the performers of Music & Love had the pleasure of performing at Asbury Methodist Village, a location we were visiting for the very first time. The moment we walked in, we saw the seniors sitting nicely for us in the bright resident lounge, with beautiful flowers on the piano and tables, and rays of sunlight shining through the windows, lightening and warming up the scene. The view of the greenery outside the windows was truly stunning. The seniors there enjoyed a wonderful variety of pieces, including three works by Chopin, performed by Allie Rui, Edwin Thai, and Benjamin Peng. They also had the opportunity to listen to three Sonatas, performed by Eric Zhang on cello, and Faith Tian and Angelina Lin on piano. Two exceptionally complex and beautifully musical pieces performed by Kanami and Yuto Shimomura truly stunned the audience, earning thundering applause and delighted exclamations of "Wow!" Music & Love made an outstanding first impression at Asbury Methodist Village, leaving the seniors eager to welcome the performers back again. (Reported by Benjamin Peng)

It is a nice sunny day today. Music and Love has a special concert in collaboration with Ms. Pangji Du’s piano studio at Holy Cross Hospital (Silver Spring). The event aimed to provide comfort and uplift the spirits of patients, visitors, and healthcare workers through the healing power of music. Ms. Du started the concert with a warm welcome to all the audiences and handed out printed programs. The performers are all young musicians from Ms. Du’s piano studio. They played a range of famous classical masterpieces composed by Chopin, Bach and Haydn, etc. The performance created a serene and soothing atmosphere throughout the hospital. Patients and visitors paused to listen and enjoyed the music. The concert ended in Angela’s Chopin Waltz in A minor and Bach March No. 9. It makes everyone feel like dancing under the sun. What a relaxing Sunday afternoon! (Reported by Gabriel Zhou)

Easter is a special day and the festivities won’t be complete for the seniors at Raphael House without the relaxing sounds of instruments being played. Oh, yes. Music and Love never failed to bring the best quality music to our lovely seniors. From Matthew’s entertaining clarinet piece, “Tramp!”, to Jackie’s piano sonata that feels like a spring breeze, and Timmy’s amazing singing, the seniors were always entertained and were very relaxed. Today was a great day for everyone and everyone had lots of fun and were all entertained. (Reported by Aric Deng)

Raphael House is our favorite place to perform for a reason. Not only does the environment of this senior living center feel comfortable, but the seniors here are really nice and supportive. They love our music and they always give off some of the most enthusiastic rounds of applause I have ever heard after every music. The seniors enjoyed Jake’s “Calico Skies”, and they loved his amazing voice and guitar playing skills. They were also able to enjoy two Nocturnes today, one by Grace and one by Jeremy, which both left them strolling in a misty London street at night. Jenny impressed everyone with her delightful tune on the flute, and Gabriel shocked everyone with how well he plays the piano at his young age. Rafael House is certainly a house of music lovers and there’s no better way to entertain them by bringing their source of music off the screens of the modern world and into reality where they could actually enjoy it. Concert at Brightview Great Falls VA

The concert had a mix of different styles and pieces. One of the longest performances was a violin concerto that seemed technically difficult. The performer had a piano accompaniment, and they stayed in sync well. There was also a classical piano piece that was clear and controlled. A modern piece later on had a lot of intensity and sharp contrasts, which made it stand out from the rest. Some lighter pieces were included too, like a jazz song and a well-known movie theme. They added variety to the program. One pianist carried a large portion of the program with several pieces. Her playing showed consistency and stamina throughout the concert. Overall, the concert showed a range of music and skill levels. Each performer brought something different to the stage. Concert at Byron House

This Sunday afternoon, we had the pleasure of visiting the Byron House. Our young musicians sacrifice their resting time to play for seniors. Even though the weather was humid, there were still about 20 musicians coming to give their best. We also had some new members joining us. The seniors and staff were very friendly and warmly greeted us, making us feel truly welcome. Everyone worked really hard and put a lot of effort into preparing for this valuable opportunity. The performance started at 2:00 pm with a beautiful violin solo–Concerto No.2 in G major, played by Allie Rui. We also had an exciting duet, brought by Candice and Cailtyn. They played Romanian Rhapsody, an amazing, heartfelt song. The performance concluded with a beautiful Zigeunerweisen played by Chris Wang. The performance enriched both the performers and the audience, creating a memorable and heartwarming afternoon for everyone. It was wonderful to see how much happiness was brought to the seniors by our playing, and we hope to visit them again soon. ( Reported by Christopher Wang)

Concert at Wanda Plaza (China)

Hey everyone! We’re super excited to share all about our awesome concert for World Autism Day! We got to team up with Little Turtle Autism Children's Rehabilitation Center, Golden Arrow Education and some volunteering friends from different universities. Even though we’re from different places, we had so much fun sharing music, kindness, and friendship! We made cool videos of ourselves and sent them to each other! The BEST part was when two students sang along with us to our video of "Jasmine Flower." It felt like we were playing music together, even though we were far apart! The young musicians were fantastic! They sang, danced, and even played traditional Chinese instruments. It was like one big, fun party! Here at Music and Love, we believe that music can bring everyone together, no matter where they are. This event showed us that even if we live far away, our love for music and friendship can make the world feel a little smaller. We can’t wait for more fun performances like this in the future! Yay!
