Thank you to everyone who came to perform today! All of the kids were incredibly talented and played so well—make sure to congratulate yourselves for all your hard work and preparation. A special shoutout to Esther’s mom for generously helping with the kids and taking photos. We truly appreciate your support! Another big shoutout to Momo Sasaki, who performed a beautiful solo. We hope to hear it again next time! Once again, thank you to everyone who arrived with a prepared piece and shared your music with us. Have a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving break! On a very windy day close to Thanksgiving, Music and Love visited Raphael House. Allie started the concert off with Prelude and Allegro on the violin. The sound of violin music filled the room with warmth. Next, Jake performed Childhoods on the piano, the cascading chords perfectly illustrating the ups and downs of our early life. We also had many unique performances highlighting multiple different cultures including Dance of the Golden Snake performed by Sihong on the pipa, Indian Concertino performed on the violin by Riddhima, and Sakura performed on the piano by Frankie. Faith and Esther performed Canon in D as a duet towards the end, leaving everyone with a peaceful atmosphere. In addition to bringing smiles through music, we also gave out handmade holiday cards to the seniors. At the end of the concert, everyone was cheerful and we all hope for the opportunity to perform again very soon! (Reported by Selena Ritschel)
We had one of our first big events today, and it was a huge success! A big thank-you to all the parents who donated and helped organize this gathering — your support made it possible. A total of 52 young musicians participated in the performance, with support from professional piano accompanists and several parent performers. Together, we raised $1,804.81 in donations for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Additionally, Grace, Allie, Candice, and Caitlyn raised $368 through their Business Fair, bringing the total donation amount to $2,172.81, which will be donated to the Children’s Inn at NIH. Let’s not forget about all the talented kids that signed up to support this program! I hope everyone who performed was able to claim a prize! We enjoyed seeing such a wonderful variety of instruments and duets this time. Great job to everyone who gave an amazing performance! A special shoutout to Allie’s mom for playing a major role in setting everything up and giving us the opportunity to earn prizes. I hope everyone had a fantastic time and will sign up again for the next event! (Reported by Esther Tian)
This November’s Music and Love concert was a delightful experience for the senior audience, who responded with smiles, soft humming, and warm applause throughout. One performer, presenting their first-ever singing and electric guitar performance with Wildflower, captivated the listeners with a tender and heartfelt delivery. Another singer performed Beatles classics, including Yesterday, and I Want to Hold Your Hand, evoking nostalgia and cheerful reactions from the audience. Other musicians showcased a range of skill and expression. A clarinetist performed Concerto No. 3 Op. 30, alongside a moving piano rendition of Spirited Away, earning murmurs of admiration. The concert concluded with a highly skilled pianist playing Grieg’s Sonata Op. 7, Beethoven’s Tempest No. 17, and Idea 10 by Gibran Alcocer, leaving the audience visibly impressed and deeply engaged. Overall, the mix of first-time performances and professional-level artistry created a heartfelt and memorable experience, bringing joy and connection to the senior listeners. I played piano at a local senior center, sharing a few songs that I had been practicing and helping create a warm, relaxing atmosphere for the residents. It was nice to see people smiling and enjoying the music, and I felt proud to be able to contribute in a small way. The experience helped me feel more confident about performing in front of others and showed me how music can bring people together. (Report by Stephen Chen)
On a beautiful autumn day, a lot of the music and love musicians gathered together at Byron house and delivered a great concert to the seniors again. We started off with Grace playing piano. Her fingers were flying across the keyboard with touching sounds playing sonata No.33. Next, we had Alex playing Rondino in a beautiful and calming way. We also had two Canon in D duet coincidently. One is played by Esther and Faith, and one by Jacqueline and Grace. They both showcased this masterpiece successfully and earned a big round applause from the audiences. Finally, Allie played the famous piano piece Chopin Waltz. She never made a single mistake and delivered a very solid piece. At the end of our wonderful concert, we handed out our hand-made greeting cards to all the seniors and nurses at the Byron house. When they opened the cards, the room was filled with laugh and Joy.
