Today at ArtLab, four students participated in an engaging art lesson focused on the renowned artist Wayne Thiebaud. Mrs. Han led the session, delving into Thiebaud's background and exploring his distinctive style. We learned that Thiebaud is best known for his vibrant depictions of commonplace objects like cakes, pies, and ice cream cones, painted with thick, luscious strokes that give his works a delightful, almost edible quality. Mrs. Han shared stories about Thiebaud's life, including his early career as a commercial artist and how it influenced his later work. We discussed his use of bold colors and the way he plays with shadows and perspectives to make ordinary objects appear extraordinary. The lesson was both informative and inspiring, and we all had a fantastic time immersing ourselves in Thiebaud's artistic world. (Reported by Allie Rui)
