For Music and Love’s first time in Virginia, 15 musicians all played wonderfully today. Their compelling music immediately hooked our amiable seniors’ attention. We started off with colorful piano performances, with strong accents and clean running scales. Then, we had our first violin performance, a lively tarantella. Next, we had a piano solo called “Dance of the Autumn Leaves” which celebrates the closeness of autumn. Today, we had a variety of pieces, from slow, nostalgic melodies, to powerful tunes. One of our audience members exclaimed, “This is absolutely wonderful, what you do, absolutely beautiful.”
We observed a lovely lady scrawling notes on a purple notepad, and cherished how all people, no matter what age, can enjoy music. Many audience members recognized some of these songs, being large music fans with a vast knowledge of classic pieces. We loved making elders smile and forget their troubles. Today’s concert here at Brightview was a great success, and not only did we allow new musicians to experience giving joy, but we also helped the elderly people enjoy their day.
