Today, the Music and Love China Chapter partnered with the Xingqidian Language Arts School and a dedicated team of college student volunteers to host a meaningful Dragon Boat Festival charity event at Wanda Plaza. The event commenced with an impressive poetry recitation performance celebrating the festival, followed by a special workshop focused on supporting children with autism. During the workshop, I had the privilege of pairing up with a child to create traditional Chinese cloisonné (Jingtailan) hair clips together. Even though I am from the United States, working side-by-side with my new friend showed me that companionship and art transcend language barriers; we connected deeply through creativity and shared smiles, and before parting ways, I was honored to present her with a bag of rice as a gift of support for her family. Having witnessed the positive impact of Music and Love back home in the US, participating in today's event in China beautifully demonstrated that love and community service work exactly the same way across the ocean. I am incredibly happy and proud to have been a part of this initiative in China, as bringing joy and care to others is a universal language that connects us all, no matter where we live. Today, I had the incredible honor of co-hosting the Music and Love China Chapter’s Cultural and Natural Heritage Day Charity Event alongside three students! Together, we guided the audience through a magical afternoon that kicked off with our youth members delivering brilliant bilingual presentations on six traditional Chinese heritages—and I was especially excited to personally introduce the beautiful art of Straw Weaving, alongside Cloisonné, Dian-cui, Shadow Puppetry, Song Brocade, and Crochet. After some joyful singing and dancing, we all gathered around the big screen to watch a heartwarming video of American students performing, which beautifully showed how music and love bridge our cultures across the ocean. To bring this unforgettable celebration to a perfect close, I played the violin 'Allegro Brilliant' as the final act, pouring all the energy and pride of our amazing community into the closing notes. I really enjoyed coming to China and attending this wonderful event! No matter where life takes you in the future, or what culture and background you come from, let's all join hands and make our world a better and more beautiful place! (Reported by Allie Rui)
On the afternoon of June 1st, the celebration of International Children's Day continued with a vibrant energy as Music and Love China Chapter hosted the afternoon session of its year-round support project, "Lighting Up the Stars: Caring and Accompanying Children with Autism," at the GFC Mall. Designed to establish a long-term, stable, and deeply supportive platform for these special children and their families, the event shifted into a cozy, creative atmosphere. After the children filled the mall with joy through their lively singing and dancing routines, a dedicated group of university volunteers stepped in to lead a hands-on crafting session. The college students worked side-by-side with the children, guiding their hands to create beautiful DIY crafts, fostering meaningful social connections, and turning the afternoon into an inspiring showcase of community support and inclusive love.
