Concert at Holy Cross Hospital (Silver Spring)

What a beautiful Sunday! The young musicians from Music and Love visited Holy Cross Hospital to share their music and kindness. Even though the hospital piano was broken, the concert was still wonderful. There were six violinists and one dancer performing for the patients and staff. The violinists played many lovely songs that made everyone smile. The dancer also performed gracefully, bringing even more joy to the audience. The music made the hospital feel warm and peaceful. Everyone at the hospital was very thankful and happy to see the young performers. The Music and Love team showed great teamwork and a positive spirit, making the concert a big success. Music and Love hopes to keep bringing happiness and love to more people through music! (Reported by Allie Rui)

Concert at Manor House

My experiences at the Manor House have been very pleasing. Over the 2 (or maybe 1 or 3, I don’t have an idea) years of playing for the elderly people at this retirement center, I have had many great times. For example, meeting all the seniors (and memories, all interesting) has been one of the many reasons for wanting to go play here. Another reason is just playing the piano itself. I can just see the thoughts of what the elderly people think when I play the piano (or Ol’ Bessie, because that's what I imagine the people at the Manor House to call it). Those are some (of many) reasons why I appreciate playing at the Manor House. (Reported by Noah Chen)

Concert at Raphael House

Today, students came together to share their amazing talents and love for music at the “Music and Love” concert at Raphael House. The concert began with Timmy Li playing a beautiful Chopin piece on the piano, followed by many wonderful performances. There were piano and violin pieces, like Indian Concertino by Riddhima Dey and Mokry Concertino in G Major by Rishita Dey. Some songs were soft and romantic, like River Flows in You and Claire de Lune, while others were exciting and full of energy, like Star Wars and Chopin Scherzo No.2. The audience really enjoyed listening and sometimes even hummed along with the familiar tunes. It was nice to see everyone smiling and clapping for their friends. The concert was full of joy, teamwork, and beautiful music. It was a fun and special day that created wonderful memories for both the performers and the audience! (Reported by Timmy Li)

Porchfest

We had a wonderful concert today at Brookdale’s Porchfest! The program opened with a strong start by the Chamber String Ensemble, featuring five talented young musicians performing Beethoven’s Ode to Joyride and Blueberry Rondo—the latter being a special piece some of them helped compose during the MCYO summer camp. Next came two outstanding violin duets: Love Theme and Humoresque. Both pieces were beautifully expressive, and the performers conveyed their emotions with remarkable depth. Between the ensembles, we enjoyed several spectacular solo performances, ranging from Vivaldi’s Concerto in A Minor to Paganini’s Concerto No. 1, each leaving the audience deeply impressed. To close the program, our Parent-Student Ensemble delivered an energetic and joyful finale with Can-Can, Vivaldi’s Winter Largo, and Radetzky March. Their lively performance captivated everyone and left the crowd buzzing with delight long after the concert ended. (Reported by Jacqueline Chung)

Last Sunday, musicians from Music And Love spent their afternoon volunteering at Raphael House Nursing Home, filling the halls with music and smiles. The students chose to share their talents connecting generations through art. The mini concert featured a variety of performances, ended with Anqi’s beautiful piano solo. It rippled like gentle waves across a quiet shore, each note rising and falling with effortless grace, impressed the whole audience. The live music and young talents accompanying have a powerful effect on residents’ moods and well-being. We’ll continue to bring joy and love to the community. (Reported by Alex Jiang)

Concert at Brightview Great Falls

Brightview’s air buzzed with the sophistication of music’s touch. The first two pieces were a contrast of liveliness and energy, though they didn’t capture the room as much as the later performances. Then came a spellbinding duet that had a lively, delicate, and sweet melody. The audience clapped and whispered about the perfect synchronization of both violins, looking cheerier than they were earlier. The brother and sister seemed to read each other’s minds as they immersed themselves in the music. The next performer played predominantly dramatic pieces, skillfully maneuvering his fingers in his Nocturne. The seniors sat up straighter in their chairs and beamed at each other, clearly drawn in by the emotion of the piece. The last performer looked particularly self-confident, and that reflected in his performance. After his first piece, an extremely difficult one with dominating energy, a senior remarked, “He’s great, isn’t he?” In his second piece, the dramatic energy did not cease; many pauses built suspense as the audience stayed completely still. He persevered through the more demanding sections, maintaining focus and control. His third piece shifted the tone: sweeter, slower, and a contrast to the other dominating ones, capturing Bach’s energy well. His later pieces were darker and more delicate, his fingers gliding effortlessly across the keys. When he finished, the room filled with applause and quiet wows from the audience, impressed by how much emotion he brought to the closing moments. The concert was an unforgettable showcase of talent, with every musician demonstrating remarkable professionalism and skill. (Reported by Angelina Lin)

Today’s music and love concert was fantastic with the bright sun and wonderful music. It was a fabulous day. We went to the Byron House nursing home. First up was Allie Rui playing “Bach, Invention No. 13” on piano. She played with a rich sound and beautiful music. Following up was Candice and Caitlyn Xu’s duet “Romanian Rhapsody” on piano. They also did a great job with playful tunes. Other than piano, we also had some other great performances today. Faith and Esther Tian played “Love Theme” with a pretty sound and peaceful tones on violins. Avery Wang’s dance was very elegant and touching.  It was a very successful concert,  and we can’t wait for the next one!  (Reported by Jacqueline Chung)
