Concert at Manorhouse VA

On this sunny day in May, we performed an excellent array of music. Noah started on the piano, playing his lyrical Chopin Nocturne, with its ebbing flow of notes. He was followed by Cathy Zhang, who played her Haydn Sonata in G Major, featuring a lively and rhythmical melody with much ornamentation. Following that performance, Noah returned, accompanied by Zoe Hu to perform their Bach Sonata in E Flat Major Duet, with an expressive and gallant style. After that, Esther Zhang appeared to perform a humoreque and the Intermezzo from Carmen on the flute. Next, Tyler played Bach’s French Suite No. 5, tuneful, elegant, and sunny. Afterwards, Zoe Hu returned, this time solo, to perform Chopin Nocturne Opus 9 No. 1. Following the gorgeous piece, Stephen and Annie Yuan came to play the Beethoven Sonata No. 5 Duet for Piano and Violin, or the Spring Duet as it is called due to its lyricism being related to the nature of spring. Afterwards, David Hatton played the theme song for Pink Panther and Centerpiece, a jazzy tune, on the saxophone. Lastly, Stephen closed the concert when he played his Bach Prelude and Fugue, a song demonstrating the holiness of Bach’s works, and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 11, showing technical skill. The performances all ended with applause, but our dedication for music and love will never end. (Reported by Stephen Chen)
